I'm stumbling through the crawlspace in our home looking for God knows what and amidst the rubble I come across a somewhat sealed and tattered box of long forgotten vinyl Lp's that for some inexplicable reason I had never been able to part with and always took up a dusty place in the storage area of the many places I have called home.
These old Lp's date back to my late elementary/ early junior high years in the early to mid 70's and they have trailed along after me ever since.

I have a copy of this in mint condition which I bought from a fantastic record store in Edmonton called called "Millers" which specialised in deleted and obscure albums and was based in a rather spooky but huge old warehouse near Jasper Avenue. Somehow these guys used to buy up huge quantities of overstocked albums from the States - often called "cut-outs" in respect of the way the record companies "cut out" part of the cardboard cover to stop the albums retailing for full price - and would sell them for peanuts. It was heaven for the teenage me.
I remember the check-out guy's face as I once dumped nearly 20 albums on the counter (I counted them!), the fruits of a whole day's digging and delving. Extravagant? No - I got change from a 20 dollar bill!
Did I ever play them? Hell, no, not all of them but they were nice to have!
"Sounds Spectacular" cost me all of 50 cents and it's an eclectic mix.
This one is a 1975 K-Tel collection from the USA - the Canadian version has a very different tracklisting - which contains the usual odd bedfellows. An album which mixes Bachman Turner Overdrive, Frankie Valli, Disco Tex, the Charlie Daniels Band, the Rubettes and Fanny has got to be interesting! Unlike the '75 vinyl edition, these songs all run full length and don't skip! Re-live your mis-spent youth all over again ...Enjoy...and cry your nostalgic eyes out.
