Disc one and two are the entire March 7, 1967 show. Discs three and four are sets two and three (set one never surfaced) of the March 10, 1967 show. In total, there are five (5) sets from two energetic concerts. Outstanding sound quality with some rare poetry of Jim's. Overall, this is a hard to find box set that is highly recommend!
The Matrix Club in San Fransisco, a venue co-owned by Jefferson Airplane's Marty Balin was unique in its atmosphere and its very special echo chamber sound. The Doors came here in between the release of their first two singles. Break On Through b/w End of the Night had just been published and Light My Fire b/w The Crystal Ship was yet to come. And so was the Doors' international breakthrough. They were already pretty big on the scene and playing more and more gigs. Time for intimate song writing and development was running out more and more which Jim would later regret again and again. But here they were trying on a lot of material from their self titled debut and the follow-ups (the blues classic Crawling King Snake would only be released on the Doors' last album) as well as some rare material they would only perform live on stage throughout their career. However, the Doors were polishing a lot of raw jewels here. Enjoy the special intimacy of these recordings and let the Doors take you to a magic place in the middle of the nowhere of your mind. An absolute must for any Doors fan!
